About
Hi, I'm Alex, a Freelance Sound Designer working on a brand new IP, Clown Meat.
Growing up in Vancouver, as an avid gamer, Warhammer 40k nerd, and regimented trumpet player, performing with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, as well as school orchestras and jazz bands, I quickly became passionate about working with others to create impactful experiences with sound.

My professional journey with audio began when I graduated from Vancouver Film Schools Sound Design for Visual Media program. While navigating the challenges of a worldwide pandemic, I managed to secure an Internship at Hothead Games which later turned into a position within the QA department.
Currently, I am working as the Lead Audio Designer on an AA Indie title, Clown Meat! I recently finished an 8-month contract with Counterplay Games, working on an unannounced AAA title. While at Counterplay Games I created our dynamic environment systems working with Senior Tech Artists as well as working closely with my Audio Director. To be given the task of managing a major system within the game was a huge undertaking, but one that I jumped on with enthusiasm and am really happy with the end result. I also expanded a lot on my Wwise implementation and Unreal 5 Blueprinting skills, while taking design feedback to further hone my skills as a designer. Moving forward in my career I'm looking to join another team that innovates and pushes the boundaries within the industry.

Lead Sound Designer / Audio Producer
Currently working as the Lead Sound Designer for an AA 2D Platformer, for PC and Nintendo Switch. Managing all audio assets being implemented by other audio designers, reviewing work weekly in stand-up meetings and giving feedback and guidance where necessary. Jr. Sound Designer / Technical Audio Implementer
Worked as a Junior Sound Designer for an AAA 3rd person Rogue like shooter, specifically for PC. Recorded and designed audio assets for creature vocalizations and attacks, environment destructibles and modifiers, as well as gun weapons and player special abilities. Worked as a freelance Sound Designer and a Technical Audio Implementer on the AA Indie game Orderly Havoc. Implemented assets using FMOD and Unreal Engine 5. With all my projects I like to set a goal for myself to record and use as many original assets as possible, and that’s what I did with this redesign. Before jumping into designing I like to create intent documents describing all aspects of sound throughout the project. I went about recording Ambiences, Foley such as footsteps with different surface types, as well as other synth aspects for the health regeneration, and much more!
